The Urban Transports Community mainstreamed active mobility at the Interreg MED Academy learning program, in close collaboration with Renewable Energy and Efficient Buildings Communities.

The learning unit “Cycling your cities” was part of the Green Living Cities module of the Interreg MED Academy, and was first published online in early July 2022. The learning unit was aimed to provide skills in planning and evaluating integrated cycling policies, that is, policy packages covering all relevant dimensions of cycling mobility for a low carbon mobility scheme in our cities. The learning unit and all the materials are still online and free to access via the MED Academy platform

Six e-lessons are available and focus on how to identify the different dimensions of cycling mobility, prioritise them and create an integrated cycling policy plan, including how to evaluate integrated cycling policy measures. A practical exercise (also named “challenge”) proposes participants draft their own cycling plan for their city or neighborhood. The case of Greater Irbid Municipality was presented at the first pitching session held mid-July and was positively evaluated by the tutor.

Four tutorial online sessions were held by the main expert of the course, Esther Anaya, and a summary of each lesson is published on the platform for further consultation. The material will be available online until the end of July and again in autumn.
