Development of the first steps to a comprehensive Cultural Data Collection in Al-Fayhaa.

In the frame of the Al-Fayhaa Cultural Observatoy Project, founded by the Council of Provinces of Barcelona, a Technical Training took placed in Tripoli on June 28th and June 29th, focused on the design of the Cultural Observatory’s technical methodology. It was was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tripoli, in the installations of the BIAT Centre. Several representatives and project’s key actors attended this workshop from Universities, the Urban Community of AL Fayhaa, the Municipality of Tripoli and other stakeholders.

The specific purpose of this training was to introduce management’s concepts, to analyze objectives and to provide tools and technical methodologies at regards to the collection of cultural data and the required documentation to be compiled. 

Various topics were argued during the session, where an important emphasis was given to the following aspects.

1. Due to the importance of a cultural information system and the creation of a management institution, it is required to identify and to categorize the city popular folklores typologies.

2. The information may be collected and documented, considering its adaptation from the different cultural sectors of provenance.

3. The selection and capacity building of the collectors, who will do the field works and the compilation of Archive software, is crucial to guaranty the success and further sustainability of the project.

The results of the training were very productive in line with the final design and startup of the Cultural Observatory’s performance of activities. The final project closing ceremony will be held on the 12 July 2017.
