The World Mediterranean Economic Foresight Institute (IPEMED) in partnership with the French Agency for Environment and Energy Management (ADEME), has launched a study on the opportunities linked to a paradigm shift towards the adoption of the so-called “circular economy” approach in waste management matters in the Mediterranean region. A public survey is opened in order to add quantitative and qualitative information to the study
Considering the numerous challenges faced by Mediterranean countries, the French Agency for Environment and Energy Management (ADEME), as a member of the Mediterranean Association of the National Agencies for Energy Conservation (MEDENER), formed a partnership with the World Mediterranean Economic Foresight Institute (IPEMED) in 2014. This collaboration aims to promote energy efficiency and the development of renewable energies as pillars of energy transition in the Mediterranean region.
In this regard, a study has been led by Pr. Soudi, IPEMED’s associate expert, on the opportunities linked to a paradigm shift towards the adoption of the so-called “circular economy” approach in waste management matters in the Mediterranean region. In order to launch a debate on the first results of the dedicated report, especially as regards the potential of energy and agricultural recovery from solid waste in Morocco, in Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and Turkey, IPEMED/ADEME Working Group met on 13 May in Paris.
This public survey aims to enhance ADEME/IPEMED’s study from additional quantitative and qualitative elements. Our pragmatic and participative approach tries to participate in the diffusion and appropriation of the challenges about sustainable development in Mediterranean territories. All stakeholders are welcome to reply to the questionnaire: local and regional representatives, civil society (private sector included), institutional representatives, etc.
The results of this consultation could increase synergies between local, national and regional initiatives by putting emphasis on “good practices”.
