The Local Development Agency of Berguedà visited Sousse for rechnical meetings in the frame of the technical assistance carried out by the Provincial Council of Barcelona in the frame of USUDS.
On the 7th and 8th July 2014, a mission was carried out by the Provincial Council of Barcelona in the city of Sousse, in order to conduct the second visit of technical assistance on local development and economic promotion in the frame of USUDS project.
The first mission had been carried out during the month of March with the participation of Roger Pumares, Head of Sector of Productive Tissue of the Provincial Council of Barcelona, in order to identify possible collaboration issues between the two institutions.
As a result of this meeting, a second mission was foreseen with the participation of Mr. Eduard Barcons, Managing Director of the Local Development Agency (ADL) of Berguedà in Catalonia, in order to assist the Municipality of Sousse in the creation of a structure of coordination of actors and activities for the economic promotion of the territory. This structure could be an approximation to the model of Local Development Agencies, existing in the province of Barcelona, and would probably include the office that will be created for the implementation of the urban development strategy of Sousse that was adopted in April 2014 as a result of USUDS project.
Mr. Barcons met with stakeholders from the city of Sousse and with municipal representatives and shared with them the experience of the ADL Berguedà. He will accompany the municipality of Sousse in the process to be undertaken for the creation of this structure and will provide recommendations and proposals regarding the functioning and the services of such an agency.
In the framework of the Med4Waste project, more than 50 participants took part in the project’s seminar entitled “Towards sustainable models of local governance for integrated and circular policies for urban waste management" that took place in Mahdia.
MedCities participated in the ENSERES capitalization event in Tyre and had the opportunity to share the outcomes with member cities in a fruitful visit with different Lebanese representatives.
A two day training was organized with Irbid Municipality in order to exchange and learn about the fundamentals of energy audit, which were the lessons learned from Irbid municipality when auditing their municipal buildings.
