Last 12th April, Sousse presented its City Development Strategy with the participation of the Municipality, the local work team, the USUDS members, and Sousse civil society.

Mohamed Mokni, the President of the Special Municipal Delegation, began with a brief speech to recognize all the work done by the local team and to give thanks to the different organizations of the civil society that participated in the definition and development of the City Development Strategy. Sami Hochlaf, the Deputy Mayor in charge of International Cooperation of Sousse, was the moderator of the session.

Karim Elouardani, the coordinator of the local work team, exposed the objectives and the results of the Development Strategy project of the City of Sousse. Elouardani proceeded with a brief explanation on the organization and the method of the process that led local experts and civil society, make an analysis of the situation of Sousse. This diagnosis led to a common vision of the city of Sousse for the year 2030, an integrative, attractive and creative city.

To achieve this vision of the city, the local team defined the objectives that resulted in a total of 70 projects in the areas of competitive economy, planning and social cohesion, environmental management, urban development and good governance. Some of these projects were exposed by experts of the local team.

There was also time to present the Poverty Alleviation project at “Khereddine Bacha” school in El Godrane, an important project that aims to improve the situation of children and their families of this neighbourhood.

Finally, there was the signature of the commitment statement of the Steering Committee of the project to boost the strategy of Sousse.
