The Moroccan city of Casablanca hosted the second edition of this institutional and economic meeting
The Barcelona-Casablanca Forum, an event organised by European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMED) and the Development and Solidarity Council (CDS), took place during the last 30 November and first of December in Casablanca, Morocco. The forum focused on the urban sustainable development.
The new Secretary General of MedCities Xavier Tiana, presented the metropolitan governance and management model of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, and the aims and activities of the MedCities network. The presentation was framed in a round table on urban development and governance in the metropolitan areas, whit the interventions of the President of the Casablanca- Settat Region, the President of the Urban Community of Casablanca, the General Director of the of the Urban Agency of Casablanca and the Deputy Director of Barcelona Regional, the local Urban Development Agency.
Another relevant issues discussed during the event have been funding and management of mobility infrastructures, urban and metropolitan services management, and economic promotion.
During the event, some bilateral meetings took place between different stakeholders from Barcelona and Casablanca
The next edition of the Forum will take place during 2016 in Barcelona.
