MedCities participated in the 18th Partnership Council Meeting of Global Water Partnership–MED that was celebrated in Athens on 21st December. MedCities forms part of the Partneship Council in representation of local authorities in the Mediterranean
The Partnership Council meets annually in order to discuss the progress of the activities of GWP-MED and approve the action plan and budget of the coming year.
During the meeting GWP-MED Secretariat presented some key issues related to the advancement of global GWP agenda in the Mediterranean in order to be discussed by the members and explore possible synergies and collaboration. The working agenda of GWP-MED includes the definition and advancement of interventions on integrated urban water management in the Mediterranean, an issue under which there could be opportunities for engagement of MedCities members.

In the framework of the Med4Waste project, more than 50 participants took part in the project’s seminar entitled “Towards sustainable models of local governance for integrated and circular policies for urban waste management" that took place in Mahdia.
MedCities participated in the ENSERES capitalization event in Tyre and had the opportunity to share the outcomes with member cities in a fruitful visit with different Lebanese representatives.
A two day training was organized with Irbid Municipality in order to exchange and learn about the fundamentals of energy audit, which were the lessons learned from Irbid municipality when auditing their municipal buildings.
