On March 20th CIDOB (Barcelona Center for International Affairs) presented in Barcelona its new research project on Mediteranean youth, funded by the European Union under the 7th Framework Programme. The project will last three years and seeks to conceptualize transition in Arab countries with a focus on Arab youth from an interdisciplinary perspective.

This project, which involves 14 partners, intends to explore the reality of youth in a comparative way in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon, carrying out a joint survey on the concerns and interests of Euro-Mediterranean youth.

The project is entitled SAHWA, which means “renaissance” or “revival” in Arabic.

The Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, which acts as General Secretariat of MedCities, supports the work done by CIDOB, which is one of the most well-known think-tanks of Europe in International Relations, with a special focus on Euro-Mediterranean affairs.

The website of the SAHWA project will be launched in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can find more information at www.sahwa.eu.
