The closing Workshop of the EU funded project RAMUD “Réseau d’Action en matière de Mobilité Urbaine Durable” was organized by the Urban Community of AL FAYHAA in the Quality-In hotel in Tripoli- Lebanon on September 21th , 2015 with the participation of the beneficiary the city of Barcelona and the partners and under the auspices of the Governor of North Lebanon

“RAMUD”  aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation between Mediterranean countries by establishing a network to exchange experiences aiming at promoting planning, establishing urban mobility policies that include criteria for environmental, economic and social sustainability and strengthening good governance, increasing input from  local expertise, coordinating with municipal governments and providing outreach and education to encourage the use of sustainable urban transport.  

The program started  by the Lebanese Anthem followed by opening speeches of the President of the Urban Community al Fayhaa – Mayor of Tripoli Engineer Amer AL RAFEI, the beneficiary representative Mr. Adria GOMILA ( Video ) , the ENPI CBC MED program representative Mr.Hamze JAMMOUL  and finally the  Governor of North Lebanon Mr.Ramzi NOHRA.  Four sessions and a closing session followed.

The first session included a presentation of the director of the AL Fayhaa  Eng. Dima HOMSI about decentralized cooperation  projects followed by a presentation  of the ENPI CBCMED program representative Mr.Hamze Jammoul  about the ENI program.

The second session was chaired by Mr.Giorgio AMBROSINO and dealt with Sustainable Urban Mobility and  included two presentations about the situation of sustainable urban mobility in Lebanon by Eng. Elie HELOU and the urban mobility projects in Tripoli by Dr.Hani NAGHI.

The third session was chaired  by Mr.Khaled  SHORMAN and dealt with the RAMUD partners: approach and results and included three presentations  about RAMUD project by the beneficiary representative Mr. Khaled Shorman , study of the establishment of the urban mobility observatory in the city of Sousse by Eng. Kais El Genzri, Tiemme in the ENPI CBCMED RAMUD project: ITS solutions and applications for sustainable mobility governance in the Mediterranean cities by Mr.Maurizio PELOSI and a preliminary study of the station by SETS representative Dr.Hani NAGHI.

The last sessions was chaired by Dr. Jalal HALWANI and dealt with urban mobility policies and impact on air quality, and included three presentations about urban mobility policies in Italy, urban mobility policies in Lebanon and impact on air quality and finally a presentation about air quality results and impact of the transport sector on air quality.
