The Development Agency of the Berguedà County, situated in Catalonia (ES), is one of the six replicators’ territories of the Interreg-Med project on Circular Tourism INCIRCLE.

MedCities is supporting Berguedà’s Country in the creation of territorial strategies to increase circularity and sustainability of tourism.

The first phase of this project consists in assessing the current state of tourism in terms of sustainability and of integration of circular economy principles. For this purpose, external experts on sustainable tourism strategies are accompanying this territory in the application of the tools and methodologies developed by the INCIRCLE project.

During the month of March a series of meetings with local stakeholders will be organised in order to work in the development of sustainable tourism strategy integrating the principles of circular economy.

Moreover, based on the tourism assessment, some tailor-made activities will be implemented in the territory tackling one or more of INCIRCLE four pillars (energy, waste, mobility and water).
