The fifth workshop of the Local Planning Network, which is closing the first phase of the network, was organized by the FNCT-Fédération Nationale des Communes Tunisiennes (National Federation of Tunisian Municipalities) in collaboration with MedCities on 7 and 8 February in Hammamet. MedCities supported the implementation of that network within the framework of A’SIMA Tunis component 3 aiming to enhance networking and experience sharing in strategic planning.

In this workshop, the Tunis municipality representative presented the experience of the city in terms of stakeholders’ and citizens’ engagement for the definition of its City Development Strategy (CDS) as well as the challenges resulting from its inter-municipal dimension. Participants also worked on the last deliverable to be established, namely a methodological factsheet on how to elaborate a City Development Strategy, elaborated through five thematic round tables organized simultaneously.

The second day of the workshop was dedicated to discussions about how the work had been carried out by the network during its first year to identify potential ways to improve it, needs in terms of training and ways to go ahead with shared tasks.
