This project is framed within the Mediterranean City to City Migration program implemented by ICMPD and funded by the European Union through the Directorate General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement negotiations and co-funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

The TangerAccueil project aims to respond to the priorities identified by the city of Tangier to promote access for newcomers and migrants to their rights and services and to facilitate their social integration.

The TangerAccueil project aims to respond to the priorities identified by the city of Tangier to promote access for newcomers and migrants to their rights and services and to facilitate their social integration. The project will create an information and orientation “single desk” (Guichet unique) to provide guidance about the existing services and active associations offering advice and support to migrants. The project will promote the establishment of the city’s Immigration Council to foster better collaboration between associations and their participation in the city’s immigration management. Finally, a series of training activities and awareness raising initiatives will be conducted to inform about the services offered by the associative world.

The project aims to create synergies with other existing projects in the city of Tangier by better coordinating the public and private actors involved in migration around the Immigration Council and a shared Action Plan. Likewise, synergies with other stakeholders in the city of Tangier as well as at national level and within the MC2CM program will be sought throughout the execution of the project.

TangerAcceuil aims to capitalize, through the MedCities network, the experience of the city of Barcelona in terms of reception and integration of migrants and multi-level cooperation as well as to share its learnings with the cities of the Moroccan Network of Intercultural Cities and the Moroccan cities integrated in MedCities network, particularly Tetuan.

The project is led by MedCities and is implemented locally in cooperation with the Municipality of Tangier.
