On July 24th- 25th, MedCities developed a mission to the cities of Tangier and Tetouan, with aim to strengthen cooperation with the cities of Tangier and Tetouan by identifying possible initiatives and projects to be implemented, under the cooperation agreement signed with the Municipality of Barcelona.

The objective of the technical mission was to exchange on the initiatives and work programs of the two cities, current and future, in terms of sustainable urban development and local economic development.

MedCities introduced the priority axes of the project proposals and initiatives in the field of social inclusion, participatory democracy and revitalization of social actors and social policies of the city. The meeting outputs was the identification of needs and priorities for intervention on socio-economic aspects in the two cities.

To conclude the meeting, taking into account the priorities outlined by the cities and the initiatives presented by the PAC services and the social action services, the potential projects outlined were to provide technical supporting actions for the development of municipal plans on city accessibility and/or new civil society services’ deployments.

It is foreseen to formulate and to launch the selected projects during the next semester, with an estimated implementation period of 12 months. MedCities intends to work the same type of projects together with the cities of Tangier and Tetouan, in order to generate a regional initiative with potential exchanges between the two cities, where to strength the capitalization of opportunities and the transfer between cities of the network.
