The Community of the Green Living Areas Mission gathered in Torino on the 10th and 11th of April 2024 to draw synergies and joint initiatives. All the thematic projects of the community, the biggest of the EURO-MED Programme (19), took part in a 2-days full event of conferences, workshops, and networking activities. Take a look at the highlights of the event!

MedCities leads the Transferring work package of the Community for Living Areas project and will pilot from next year the replication process of the most relevant tools generated by the community in fields such as energy efficiency, financing climate change transition, nature-based solutions, or rural on-demand sustainable mobility schemes.

The first day allowed the lead and key partners to pitch their project aims and expected results and start working at the working group’s level. The day closed up with a scape room exercise that rounded up an intense and rich day of interactions!

The second day was open to the public and allowed for the exchange of best practices related to the policy framework of the mission related to promoting greener territories and engaging citizens in the transition.

The Green Living Areas Mission aims to improve Mediterranean citizens’ lives by promoting green living areas development. As part of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, the Mission undertakes projects that bring local communities to life with green development at their epicenter, reducing negative climate impacts on the region’s ecosystems, and enhancing climate resilience.

The Mission is jointly managed by the Thematic Community, which aims to build a community among thematic projects and facilitate resource transfers to stakeholders, focusing on technical and strategic content; and by the Institutional Dialogue project which aims at amplifying the transfer of policies by fostering dialogue among policymakers and their stakeholders, focusing on continuous policy improvement and transformation.

The community will meet the next months online in working group sessions and next year the community event will take place in Barcelona!
