The city of M’Saken organised the 1st ever municipal job fair, gathering 29 companies offering more than 1.000 job opportunities. More than 500 young job seekers from the city took part in this event organised in the framework of the EMPLOIMed project.

The event counted with the participation of key public figures like the Governor of Sousse and the Director of the National Agency for Employment and was hosted by the Mayor of M’Saken. The fair was an opportunity for local companies to get closer to young graduates in the region and find profiles compatible with their job offers.

During the inauguration of the employability fair, the Secretary General of MedCities, Mr. Josep Canals Molina, made the institutional welcome: “The goal is to contribute to improving the capacities of municipalities in the creation of services of accompaniment and promotion of employability and youth entrepreneurship”.

The fair is one of the latest key activities of the project, which aimed to establish a support service for employability and entrepreneurship in M’Saken and Chefchaouen, offering spaces for co-working, information, training opportunities, and support for young people. In M’Saken such a service opened its door the last month of June (see its facebook page here – M’Corner) offering training services on soft skills and digital marketing to unemployed youngsters of the city.

During the event, Tunisian TV recorded a news about the event and Tunisian radio interviewed MedCities’ Director, Mr. Oriol Barba who underlined that the objective of this seminar is to learn from the experience and results of the project at Chefchaouen and M’Saken, and to identify transferable elements to other Mediterranean municipalities.

The EMPLOIMed project, financed by the Catalan Agency for Cooperation to the Development (ACCD), is also being implemented in Chefchaouen and its overall objective is to strengthen the role and capacities of the local governments as actors of economic development in supporting its youth population’s employability and promoting entrepreneurship.
