December has been a very productive month to present the ENSERES subgrants initiatives to a bigger audience in Sfax through public events. On the 3rd, the Sfax Elmezyena publicly launched the project SAVE THEANAE to the media and general public in the “Theatre municipal de Sfax”, using their new brand from the project. Sfax Elmezyena board presented the project along with a representative of the Thyna municipality and the General Direction of the forests in Sfax. The presentation aroused a lot of interest and opened a debate space between the different members of the table and the public. Around 50 people attended the event. The conference was closed by the formal agreement between the association of Sfax Elmezyena and the Tunisian Scouts for the project implementation.

On the other hand, the “Observatoire regional environmental de Sfax” (ORES) celebrated the kick-off meeting on December 15. They organized a workshop meeting for their initiative Tackle Marine Pollution, with all the relevant stakeholders; Ports and Fishing Facilities Agency of Sfax, the National environmental protection agency, The National engineering school of Sfax, the Coastal Protection and Planning Agency, the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies, Fishing district representatives and the Association de la Continuité des Générations. During the event, a representative of the Sfax City Council introduced the ENSERES project, and then the ORES TMP coordinator presented the ENSERES awarded project in detail. Finally, the director of ACG introduced a previous initiative on marine litter prevention called “SOS Plastique”. At the end of the workshop, all the participants agreed on the settlement of the project steering committee, and they reviewed a first Action plan proposal for the project implementation.

Finally, Kantara Save Earth signed an agreement with the Regional Delegate for Education to quickly get to school for the training foreseen in their project “Plages propres Kerkennah”. In parallel, they prepared some of the freshly graduated students for the school awareness-raising activities.
