MedCities -as an associated partner- participated in the POWGEN Lisbon Transnational Exchange Workshop, a two-day event that brought together POWGEN project partners and key stakeholders. The workshop gathered representatives from energy-sector companies, NGOs working with migrant communities, and VET providers, offering a valuable platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange. The event to which Federica Giardina attended on behalf of MedCities, focused on sharing experiences and reviewing progress from the POWGEN pilot actions (capacity building, training and traineeships of migrants to access the energy job market) currently being implemented in 5 pilots: Barcelona, Lisbon, Campania Region, County of Offenbach, and Perugia. The discussions addressed:

  • Challenges and solutions emerging from pilot experiences
  • Opportunities for scaling up and transferring successful approaches to other local contexts
  • Contributions to refining the EmpowerGen EU recommendations, which will be presented at the end of the project

POWGEN (Power Generation), under the AMIF Program, from the European Commission, aims to improve labour market inclusion opportunities for migrants, supporting their professional development in sectors that are essential for building a more sustainable future. The project also contributes to fostering more inclusive and resilient working environments across Europe.

As a member of the EU Cluster and representative of local authorities, together with CPRM, EIICP and Women connectors, MedCities will contribute to the final phase of the project by supporting the dissemination and replication of key outputs and lessons learned. This involvement will help promote knowledge transfer and encourage the adoption of successful practices across Mediterranean cities.
