“Umm al Basateen” (أم البساتين) in Jordan refers to a locality near Amman, count with 23.540 inhabitants. Often people searching for this name are looking for the famous archaeological site of Umm al-Jimal (Mother of Camels), an ancient city built from black basalt with significant Roman, Byzantine, and Early Islamic ruins, recently recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It showcases unique basalt architecture, including multi-story houses and churches, revealing centuries of cultural transition and impressive engineering.
