The municipal team of the libraries of Bni Makada and Al-Andalous de Souani followed a capacity-building training course to co-design the future information and professional guidance support service for young people that will be launched in July 2024 in both libraries.

The first axis of the project TT-Emploi aims to strengthen the capacities of municipalities in terms of creating employment opportunities, professional guidance, and support for entrepreneurship to guarantee the economic and social rights of women and young people in Morocco. In this sense, the territorial diagnosis previously developed by the project suggested developing professional information and guidance support services in municipal dependencies close to young people.

In the case of Tangier, it was decided to develop a professional information and guidance support service in 2 municipal libraries: the Media Library Bni Makada, frequented by an average of 110 young people per month, and the Al Andalous de Souani library, frequented by an average of 70 young people per month. Most of these youngsters are between 15 and 18 years old and follow secondary education.

The proposal aims to expand the municipal library resources and services to offer young people the first professional and training guidance support. The employees of both libraries took part in this 3-day training where they co-design the future support service and were trained on professional guidance methodology and skills.

The service is foreseen to be launched in July and will also host a training course on soft skills for young people, another project activity.

The capacity-building sessions took place from the 10th until the 12th of June.
