The mission included meetings with the Mayors of the five visited cities (Zarqa, Jerash, Salt, Madaba and Irbid) and also technical exchanges with municipal staff, who expressed their willingness to deepen their collaboration throught technical exchanges and capacity-building activities.

Last November, 26-30th MedCities carried out a visit to member cities in Jordan in order to meet three of them (Zarqa, Jerash and Salt) and two other cities interested in joining the network (Madaba and Irbid), with the aim to identify their needs, priorities and the scope of potential collaboration.

This mission was organised and coordinated by MedCities Knowledge Transfer Centre (KTC) of Al Fayhaa, which acts as the territorial antenna of the network for the Mashreq region. The mission included meetings with the mayors of the five cities and also technical exchanges with municipal staff, who expressed their willingness to deepen their collaboration throught technical exchanges and capacity-building activities.

The mission ended with a one-day training addressed to the employees of the five municipalities in AL Salt greater municipality. This capacity building workshop was organized on 30 November, 2017, where more than 25 staff members of the five Jordanian greater Municipalities (Madaba, Zarqa, Salt, Jerash and Irbid) attended the training. Five topics were presented as follows: 1) Planning and Identifying 2) Partnership with private 3) Writing of proposals for donors 4) Project Management Cycle 5) Tools for project management.

MedCities will pursue its activities in Jordan during 2018 under the coordination of the territorial antenna for the Mashreq established in Al Fayhaa (Trípoli, Lebanon).
