The city of Saida, MedCities, UNHabitat- Resilience Hub and Barcelona City Council have launched the first activity of the RESILIENCE project. The final objective of the project is to develop a resilience profile of the city of Saida. The workshop consisted of a 3-day workshop, and served to align Saida’s technical team, including the Mayor, Mr. Mustafa Hijazi, with the methodology of the City Resilience Profiling Tool, developed by UNHabitat.
During the workshop, Mr. Mayor of Saida, the head of international relations of Saida Municipality, and two technical experts on city resilience discussed, together with MedCities and the UN-Habitat team, about challenges, shocks and stresses the city of Saida is facing, and agreed on a serie of indicators, data sources and methodologies to enable the data obtention needed to support decision making. They also assessed the methodology for the implementation of a series of workshops on Saida, to include all stakeholders needed to have a fair and broad overview of the aspects challenging the resilience of the city of Saida.
In the following months, the great collaboration initiated will continue during the data gathering process and the resilience assessment. It is foreseen that the teams will meet again in Saida during October 2025.
