MedCities travelled to member city Sarajevo to participate in the meeting of the Sustainable Economy Mission to represent and present the ProcuraMED project from which MedCities is one of the partners.

With 158 organisations from 18 countries, the CoP brings together 14 Thematic Projects (TPs) and 2 Governance Projects, creating a dynamic space for collective knowledge and learning.

On the first day, MedCities representative showcased the ProcuraMED project at the Marketplace of Circular & Innovative Solutions, exchange ideas, and connected with like-minded innovators working towards a more sustainable and circular economy. In this sense, we invited all participants to take part in the upcoming Smart City Expo World Congress, which will take place next 5th of November in Barcelona, where MedCities will present the project’s recommendations and Memorandum of Understanding to promote green public procurement (GPP) and public procurement for innovation (PPI) procedures.

On the second day, we had the opportunity to learn about practical approaches to influencing citizen behaviour. We explored common barriers and success factors in citizen engagement while designing effective measurement strategies for behaviour change initiatives. The meeting was also an opportunity to present the first four takers as part of the Mentoring & Twinning Programme of the ISE Mission. This flagship initiative is supporting the uptake and transfer of the Thematic Projects (TPs) results beyond the borders of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme. The takers—joining from Lebanon, Palestine, Greece, and Italy—are exploring which projects best align with their needs to ensure a successful transfer of knowledge and best practices.

The sessions were held between the 2nd and 4th April in Sarajevo.
