The Final Conference of the Common project gathered together representatives of several Mediterranean countries to discuss marine waste prevention, monitoring and management and present the results. Held in Tunis on the 7 and 8 February, MedCities contributed to the conference with a specific session on technical or policy initiatives, where it presented an array of results linked to the network’s circular economy and waste management projects. Such initiatives include pilot implementations of circularity approaches in the touristic or aquaculture sectors, through InCircle and BlueFasma projects, or actions aiming to improve capacities for municipal and supra municipal waste planning and management, related to Med4Waste or A’SIMA Tunis projects. Furthermore, MedCities’ work to promote recycling and waste separation in cooperation with CSOs was also presented, with a focus on the current ENSERES bub-grants to depollute the golf of Sfax. Lastly, MedCities representative explained how the network contributes to depollution and marine waste prevention through enhanced governance and improved policy, as part of the BlueMissionMed and Dialogue4Nature projects.
