Castellón de la Plana (officially in Valencian, Castelló de la Plana) is the capital of the province of Castellón and of the Plana Alta region, located in the northeast of the Valencian Community. Geographically it is located to the east of the Iberian Peninsula on an extension of flat land, surrounded by different mountains in the interior and the Mediterranean Sea to the east before which the 10 kilometers of coastline that the municipality enjoys extend. The main urban center is located about 40 m above sea level and about 4 km from the coast.
Since its designation as the capital of the homonymous province, the city has evolved from being an agricultural population to an industrial and service city, thanks to the subsequent installation of various political, judicial, economic, cultural and social institutions.
