Last 11th of June an event was organised in M’Saken to launch the opening of M’Corner, the first co-working in Tunisia that it is public and run by the Municipality in the framework of the EMPLOIMed project.

Around 100 participants took part in the opening event, counting with the participation of several key political personalities, such as the 1st Delegate of the governorate of Sousse, key stakeholders, like the Local and Regional Employment offices, business representatives and the members of the Youth Council. Mr. Mohamed Ayala, the mayor of M’Saken, especially highlighted that the opening of the co-working is the fruit of the successful collaboration between the municipality and MedCities since 2019, when we started working on the development of the city’s Youth Council. The aim is still the same: to empower the youth of the city and support them in the development of new skills that will help them in their career path, whether it is employment or entrepreneurship.

The first co-working in Tunisia, M’Corner in M’Saken

The co-working opened its doors on Monday 13th of June and offers several training and information opportunities for young people. In fact, during the summer months two pieces of training will be implemented in the co-working space: a transversal training on soft skills development (CV & career management, design thinking, pitching & storytelling, and leadership) and training on marketing digital and graphic design targeting youth unemployed.

The EMPLOIMed project is also being implemented in Chefchaouen. The project, financed by the Catalan Agency for Cooperation to the Development (ACCD), aims to establish a support service for employability and entrepreneurship in M’Saken and Chefchaouen, offering spaces for co-working, information, training opportunities, and support for young people. In this sense, Chefchaouen has already started the implementation of the training in soft skills and will offer a professional training course in e-commerce in arts and crafts targeting unemployed youth.
