Enhancing technical capacities of Libyan municipalities through interregional exchanges and digital capacity-building formats in waste management and green urban planning.

DESCRIPTION

MedCities is supporting Libyan municipalities to enhance technical capacities in different citizen-oriented basic service domains throughout interregional exchanges with network members. In particular, we will organise capacity-building programmes on Solid Waste Management & Circular Economy and Green Urban Planning, including field visits to Medcities members and the organisation of webinars on the topic. Libyan municipalities will also be invited to participate in several activities within MedCities’ international projects.

OBJECTIVES

The project aims to enhance Libyan municipalities’ technical capacities, through interregional exchanges and digital capacity-building formats, in two selected areas of interest directly linked with municipal services and policies, namely waste management and green urban planning.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Training civil administrative servants from national or local level;
  • Implementing interregional initiatives for the dissemination of learning experiences or success stories of citizen-oriented basic service delivery by selected key actors of decentralization.
  • Strengthen transparent and participatory decision-making instruments for good local governance

In order to meet these objectives, the following activities will be implemented:

  • A capacity-building programme on Solid Waste Management and Circular Economy, including a context analysis, a study visit and webinars.
  • A capacity-building programme on Green Urban Planning, including a context analysis, a study visit, a trainin-workshop.
  • Peer-to-peer digital learning processes linked with the production of capitalisation materials, including transferability webinars, policy and operational recommendations Solid Waste Management and Circular Economy, a booklet on Green Infrastructure Planning and exchanges through the MedCities network
