The LASERMED24 project finished the year with lots of celebrations and engaging activities. First, our expert and facilitator of the LASERMED Community presented the Capitalisation guide on ‘Local action for sustainable socio-economic development in the Mediterranean’ in front of 21 participants of our city members. The document systematised all the work done by the LASERMED Community during 2024 and presented eight concrete tools for making our municipalities a conscious, sustainable, and socio-economic actor of their territories. The tools can be under the umbrella of legal, analytical and technical actions such as developing a socially responsible procurement, monitoring the social value, or approaching the trade companies to build strategic partnerships around social projects.   

Secondly, we launched a social media campaign on sustainability and green economy in Zarqa, where the municipality was involved entirely. The Mayor, Imad Al-Momani, the director of the Environment Unit, Ayman Al-Omari, and the director of the Development Unit and MedCities focal point, Mohammad Nayef, made a video to show the municipality’s engagements on sustainability in terms of SDGs, waste management and energy and water consumption. In Agadir, they developed a leaflet with basic information about all the entrepreneurs’ opportunities in the region of Sous-Massa. The design and the language have been specially adapted to reach women with difficult socio-economic situations, and it has been distributed to all social centres in the city.

Finally, we had the opportunity to celebrate the end of rich and intense training programmes for women and youth in Agadir and Zarqa. The ceremonies informed about the good results of the programmes and the mentoring, and the participants had to listen to the speech of some success stories of the LASERMED24 programmes. The ceremony was also a good moment to acknowledge the efforts of all participants, who were given certificates by the vice-president of social affairs in Agadir and the mayor of Zarqa in Zarqa. All participants expressed great satisfaction of the participants in both pilot projects. Hoping to continue supporting similar actions very soon!
