On June 11-13th, MedCities participated in the 18th Meeting of the Mediterranean Commission for Sustainable Development (MCSD), held in Budva (Montenegro).
The MCSD is framed within the Mediterranean Action Plan of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP MAP) and brings together states signatories of the Barcelona Convention and relevant stakeholders linked to environmental protection in the Mediterranean. MedCities has been member of the Commission for the last 3 terms (6 years), representing the group of local and regional authorities.
During this period, MedCities has led the implementation of www.medurbantools.com, a toolkit for urban solutions addressed to local political representatives, technical staff and experts. This platform is one of the 11 flagship initiatives of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development for the period 2016-2025.
The 18th meeting of the MCSD was preparatory to the COP21, that will bring together the signatory states of the Barcelona Convention next December 2nd-5th in Naples (Italy).
