Med4Waste project (ENI CBC Med) aims at facilitating new governance models for integrated and efficient urban waste management policies across the Mediterranean region.
As a partner of Med4Waste project (ENI CBC Med), on the 30th of November MedCities is launching a call of expression of interest for public Tunisian, Lebanese, and Jordanian local authorities that want to be part of Med4Waste mentoring scheme. The mentoring scheme will capitalise results of CLIMA, DECOST, MEDINA, REUSEMED and CEOMED Projects of the ENI CBC Med Sea Basin programme. The objective of the mentoring scheme is to enhance the waste management system of the cities and transfer already tested successful good practices for waste management enhancement with a circular approach.
Through this mentoring scheme, Med4Waste will provide guidance and technical support to six sub-national public authorities in charge of planning and managing waste in the Mediterranean in order to:
1. improve or develop their integrated municipal waste management (IMWM) plan;
2. exchange first-hand knowledge with a city that has implemented a method/tool/activity to enhance its waste management system;
3. implement a tailor-made supporting action aligned with their IMWM plan.
In addition, two local companies will benefit from a parallel process to create solutions that tackle some local challenges in waste management.
MedCities contributed to the debate, concretely in the round table about ‘Euro-Mediterranean Cooperative Responses to address climate change’. The 5th edition of the MedCatDays offered a space for meeting and dialogue, also for advocacy and visibility of the actors working in the basin.
Within the framework of the inter-municipal cooperation on waste management activity, that belongs to A’SIMA Tunis project component 2 “Metropolitan governance of valorized waste management and inter-municipal waste management”, the last workshop of the concertation was organized at Tunis municipality.
