URWAN (Urban Regenerative Water Avant-garden) has officially kicked off. The project will exploit nature-based solutions’ role in integrating water management and climate change adaptation. The project will have a total Budget of 2,8M€, and be implemented by 9 project partners (among them some MedCities member cities of Larnaka and Sarajevo). The project will also count on the collaboration of its associated partners (among them some MedCities member cities of Jerash and Málaga).

MedCities will be in charge of multiplying and amplifying the effects of project results, integrating an economic, social, and cultural analysis of barriers for facilitating decision-makers to mainstream NBS at a governance level.

Among other outputs, the project will contribute to paving the way for local authorities towards the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions, by analysing the challenges and needs found when implementing NBS and providing recommendations to overcome those (such as policy, governance, technical, etc…). It will also demonstrate the benefits of implementing different urban NBS for water reuse in the Mediterranean.
